See it up close

Every box out there says 1000x. Ours doesn't.

Where 1000x comes from

A photo stretched across a big computer screen. The lens didn't change, the picture just got bigger.

What we'll print instead

The number we measure on the 2-inch screen, with a ruler, once our own test is done. Until then, no number.

What kids see today

The threads in a sweater, the veins of a leaf, the seeds on a strawberry. Up close and sharp.

Questions parents ask

Didn't find yours? Write to hello@wondermite.com. A person answers within one business day.

How much does it magnify?

We don’t print 1000x, because the lens can’t do it. Something about the size of a fingernail fills the whole 2-inch screen: the threads in a sweater, the veins of a leaf, the seeds on a strawberry. We’re measuring the real number on screen with a ruler and we’ll put it here when it’s done.

Can it see germs or cells?

No. No pocket microscope can, whatever the box says. It shows what’s on the surface: hairs, veins, crystals, the eyes of an ant. Cells need a lab microscope, thin slides and a lot more light.

Does it need an app or WiFi?

No. Switch it on and point it at something. No app, no WiFi, no ads, no account. Photos and videos stay on the Scope until you plug it into a computer with the USB-C cable.

What age is it for?

4 and up. It has small parts and a lithium battery inside, so a grown-up stays nearby for the first week and does the charging.

When will it arrive?

We pack it in 1-2 business days. Delivery takes 7 to 15 business days after that, tracked, and you see the dates before you pay. US shipping is $5.95, free over $89. Europe is $9.95, free over $99, prices in USD. Order by Nov 30 for Christmas delivery in the US, by Nov 26 in Europe.

Returns?

30 days from delivery. Send it back in its original condition and we refund you. Return shipping is on you, and we say so here instead of in small print. If it arrives broken or stops working, a photo or a short video is enough: we send a new one or refund you, and you keep the broken one.

Safe use, in plain words.

  • Ages 4+ Small parts and a lithium battery inside. A grown-up nearby for the first week.
  • A grown-up charges it With the USB-C cable, on a table, not on a bed or overnight.
  • Look, then let it go Snap a photo of the bug and put it back where you found it. No bees.
  • Lights at things, not eyes The 8 little lights are for leaves and sweaters, not for someone's face.
  • Keep it dry It isn't waterproof. Puddles are for looking at, not for dipping.
